| The power program includes a pedometer, called a “clicker”, and
accompanying “checkbook” for tracking and graphing daily activity levels. The
use of pedometers in weight loss program has increased dramatically over the
past year, in part from widespread national publicity. For example, wearing a
pedometer, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson, recently
talked about his 15-lb weight loss and his campaign to get Americans to log an
extra 2,000 steps a day. The underlying principle is simple: when people set
goals and record, track and chart behavior, it changes. That is the core of the
Clicker Power program. |
